“Environmental concerns play a central role in the production of Woodnotes’s paper-yarn products, which range from elegant room dividers to scarves, rugs, and furniture. Founded in 1987 by Finnish textile designer Ritva Puotila and her son Mikko, Woodnotes uses both advanced technologies and handcraftsmanship to develop the yarn, which is spun from durable heavyweight kraft paper that is biodegradable and can be recyclable. Because of the density of the fibers, paper yarn does not collect dust or dirt. The white paper is produced without the use of chlorine gas, and the dyes used to color the yarn contain no heavy metals.” Read More…
